Disbound scrapbook containing papers of the interrelated King and Hale families, primarily New Hampshire Congressman and author Salma Hale. Other family members include his father David Hale, his grandfather Joseph Hale, his father-in-law Seth King, and Seth King's father Josiah King. The collection contains deeds for land in Alstead, N.H., and various towns in Massachusetts and Connecticut; papers related to Salma Hale's History of the United States (1825), including certificates of copyright, publishing contracts, and correspondence; and Salma Hale's appointments as justice of the peace, New Hampshire state senator, and other honors.
